Project STAR to commence work in Sav-la-Mar

Project STAR, a social and economic development initiative, is set to begin work in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, to address crime and violence in the town. The project, which will last for five years, is funded by a mixed financing model and will focus on community engagement, inclusion, and community life planning. The project director for Project STAR said the community meetings, consultations, and town hall meetings to engage residents on the desired goals of the project will be the main focus when the project hits the ground. The initiative aims to bring about societal transformation through targeted interventions in about 20 under-resourced residential areas of Jamaica.
