Westmoreland to benefit from Project Star’s economic initiatives
Project STAR will begin an initiative to address the issues affecting Westmoreland parish in Jamaica. The initiative will involve community engagement, inclusion, and community-led planning in eight steps. These steps include community mapping, early engagement, and activation planning with critical stakeholders, working with local stakeholders, forming community transformation boards, developing a vision board for communities, and creating a transformation plan. The initiative aims to address economic outcomes, including employment and entrepreneurship, for the parish. A new industry is planned for Westmoreland through Bamboo Bio-products International, which will invest $400m in a pulp mill to harvest bamboo for pulp for export.
